Harlequins make short work of Banstaple

Oxford Harlequins restricted Barnstaple to a single penalty on the Devon side’s trip to North Hinksey, running out 26-3 winners.

The visitors were actually the first to register on the scoreboard, forcing ‘Quins into touch from the kick-off before winning good lineout ball and sending it back to the fly-half for a well-taken drop-goal to make it 0-3.

But thereafter the home side were quickly into their stride, centre Dom Maley sliding his tackler to score after quick ball from a...

Harlequins put 50 points past Maidenhead in try-fest

Oxford Harlequins put Maidenhead to the sword running in nine tries in as they posted more than 50 points against the hosts.

The victory consolidated Quins league position following their local derby victory over Chinnor, and the visitors never looked like losing after Andy Noyce put them ahead.

Quins snatch last-gasp victory over Chinnor

Oxford Harlequins moved up to third in the league and secured local bragging rights with a closely-fought 31-27 derby victory over rivals Chinnor.

The sides swopped places in National League 3 South West after the result, which looked unlikely when Quins failed to clear the Chinnor kick-off. The visitors were then penalized at a poor scrum and quickly found themselves 3-0 down.

Chinnor continued to press and the Quins were finding the ball hard to come by, losing their first two lineouts...

Quins record highest-scoring victory of season against struggling Chippenham

Oxford Harlequins returned to winning ways with a 69-19 demolition of second-bottom Chippenham in North Hinksey.

The home side ran in 11 tries in a game that saw the forwards produce high quality second phase ball for the Quins backs to spread the ball wide and stretch the visitor’s defence.  Quins opened the scoring when fullback Martin Nutt came into the line at pace, evaded a tackle and scored on the right, the try duly converted by Jeff Stewart.

Skipper Simon Chadbone added his...

Oxford Harlequins fail to make it three in a row

Oxford Harlequins failed to make it three wins in a row despite a good start at home to Weston-super-Mare, going down 19-35.

The visitors were on a good run of their own despite lying tenth in National League Division 3 South West and had the first chance of the game, missing narrowly with a penalty from 40 yards.

But it was the Quins who struck first blood after five minutes, turning the ball over in their own 22 and spinning it wide to winger Huw Jones, who kicked ahead.  Albie...
