Josh Payne extends Shots loan deal until end of the season

Josh Payne has agreed to extend his loan deal at Aldershot Town until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old midfielder has found first team opportunities hard to come by this season, making only three starts and six appearances from the bench for the U's.

Payne made his debut for the Shots in their 0-0 draw with Accrington Stanley as a substitute, and set up Anthony Straker for the winning goal in the 2-1 victory at AFC Wimbledon on his first start for the club.

Shots boss Dean Holdsworth said: “Josh has been champing at the bit to play for the club and give everything that he can and I am looking forward to him stepping into that role.”

Also on the move is midfielder Adam Chapman, who has joined Newport County on a one-month loan deal.  Under 21 Northern Ireland international Chapman has made one appearance as a substitute for United this season.

County are struggling at the foot of the Blue Square Premier, and manager Justin Edinburgh said: “Adam is an excellent signing for us and knows this league and its level.”
