Oxford United defender Liam Davis has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the Kassam Stadium until 2013, with an option of a further year.
The 25-year-old left back, who can also play in midfield, has enjoyed a successful first season with the Us after joining from Northampton Town in the summer. A former Fulham youth player, Davis made his first team debut for Coventry City in the Championship and spent time on loan at League One outfit Peterborough United.
Davis made 79 appearances for the Cobblers scoring eight goals before his move to United, and said: "I was really pleased to get it sorted. It had been anticipated and we had been talking about it, but it is always nice to get things sorted. As soon as I left Northampton and knew Chris Wilder was interested in bringing me here it was an easy decision to make and I have really enjoyed it here ever since.
"The fans have been great. I was told when I arrived that the fans were good, and they have been unbelievable, home and away. I try and work hard and give it my all in every game and I think the fans appreciate it when players do that."
Manager Chris Wilder said: "Liam has been very impressive and is very much part of our plans as we go forward. It is good to have him here for longer and we look forward to working with him and seeing him develop still further."
