U's bring in striker Scott Rendell on loan

Oxford United have completed the signing of Scott Rendell on loan from Wycombe Wanderers until the end of the season.

The much-travelled striker started his career at Aldershot Town and has scored 76 goals in 151 starts for a host of sides Forest Green, Crawley, Cambridge United, Peterborough, Yeovil, Torquay, Wycombe and Bristol Rovers, including one for Wycombe in the 2-2 draw at the Kassam Stadium last season.

The 25-year-old will go straight into the squad to face Barnet at home on Saturday and manager Chris Wilder was chuffed to have signed a player with a proven scoring record.

"Scott is an experienced striker who has scored goals wherever he has been," said Wilder.  "We are delighted that he has decided to join us and he definitely adds to our attacking options. I know quite a lot about him and he's got a decent goalscoring record, and adds something different to what we've got."

Rendell will wear the number 23 shirt for the U's.  The 6ft-tall forward said: "It's great to join a club of this stature, a club that's going places, its fantastic.

"I like to think I give 100 per cent every time even if its not working technically.  Hopefully I can link the play a little bit, bring others into play, and hopefully at the end of it score a few goals.  I had a good season last year getting promoted, so I know what it feels like and I want that feeling again this year."
