Oxford United have signed teenage midfielder Josh Payne on a month’s loan from Doncaster Rovers.
The 19-year-old captained West Ham’s under 18 side, and made two senior appearances for the Hammers. Payne had loan spells at Cheltenham Town, Colchester United and Wycombe Wanderers before being released in the summer of 2009.
Singing for Rovers, Payne scored on his debut in the Carling Cup against Accrington Stanley, a feat he also achieved at Cheltenham and Wycombe.
Chris Wilder said: "He's a player we have known about for a while and was one we looked at in the summer. He likes to get on the ball and we think he will add something in midfield for us. I spoke about him at West Ham last week and he was highly thought of there, so he has a good pedigree and I'm sure he will do well for us."
