Jason Plato admits hunger for future BTCC success

Jason-Plato-Pic2Arch rivals Matt Neal and Jason Plato have said they want to renew their on-going rivalry in 2012’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The pair, who had a number of angry exchanges with each other in 2011, were in a jovial mood when they appeared on stage at the Autosport International show at Brimingham's NEC this weekend.  Neal and Honda teammate Gordon Shedden finished first and second in 2011’s championship in their turbocharged Civics ahead of Plato in a normally-aspirated Chevrolet Cruze.

While Neal and Shedden will race Honda’s latest Civic model built to full Next Generation Touring Car specification this year, Plato has yet to announce his plans.

Double champion Plato, from Oxford, said: “I’ll make no bones about it – I want to be out there. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't, but I love it.  If there is any opportunity for me to be out there I want it and I look forward to having further dust-ups with these two reprobates.”

Worcestershire’s Neal said: “We hope to hit the ground running. I don't know what Jason is up to but hopefully he’ll be there too.”
