Buzaid wins at Snetterton

Buzaid-Pic2Oxford-based Brazilian Adriano Buzaid secured one win and two second-placed finishes in the Cooper Tires British F3 Championships over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The 22-year enjoyed his second win of the season at Snetterton on Monday, leading in his Carlin car from start to finish pursued by newly crowned champion Jean-Eric Vergne and the pair’s Carlin team-mate James Calado.  Buzaid got a good start from pole and accelerated into an early lead in the wet conditions, crossing the line 7.5s ahead of Vergne.

A delighted Buzaid said: “Everything has been going really well since Silverstone. I’d just like to thank the team; my engineer and the boys. They have done a fantastic job for me and the car was really sweet through the whole race. I really enjoyed it, had a lot of fun and the 40 minutes went quickly.”

Earlier that day, Buzaid finished the sprint race second behind compatriot Gabriel Dias.  And 24 hours earlier, on Sunday, led for the majority of the race building a lead of nearly five seconds over the first 10 laps only to be gradually reigned in by Frenchman Vergne to finish second at the circuit in Norfolk.

The result leaves Buzaid in fourth in the drivers’ standings, but only eight points behind Oli Webb ahead of the next rounds of the F3 Championships at Brands Hatch on September 25 and 26.
