Bratt signs up for Formula 2

Banbury racer Wil Bratt has signed up to race in the FIA Formula 2 Championship after just two seasons as an international driver.

The Oxford University graduate announced the switch 24 hours after concluding his maiden GP2 Asia Series campaign in Bahrain which saw him record a number of top 20 finishes.

Bratt signs off GP2 Asia series with solid finish

Will Bratt brought the curtain down on a solid maiden campaign in the GP2 Asia Series with a pair of competitive drives that saw him finish 15th and 16th on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The Banbury racer and British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star is looking to secure a competitive drive for the main 2010 motorsport season, and finished the series in Bahrain ahead of the first race of the new F1 season.

Alonso takes victory in Bahrain GP

Fernando Alonso took advantage of Sebastian Vettel’s spark plug failure to lead Felipe Massa to a Ferrari one-two in the opening grand prix of the new Formula One season.

Alonso spent the majority of the race in Bahrain tucked in behind the German, but swept past him in the latter stages to take the chequered flag ahead of Massa with former champion Lewis Hamilton taking third ahead of Vettel, who clung on to fourth.

Bratt excels in Bahrain

Will Bratt continued his promising start to the GP2 Asia Series at the Bahrain International Circuit today, posting a top 20 finish.

The Banbury racer came 16th on his race debut at the Sakhir track during a highly competitive fifth round of the campaign.  Driving for the Party Poker Racing.com Scuderia Coloni team, the 21-year-old made an outstanding start to the 34-lap race from the 10th row of the grid.

Bradley Smith heads to first test ahead of MotoGP season

British MotoGP star Bradley Smith kicks off his 2010 campaign today with his first test of the season in Barcelona.

Smith (right), who was runner up in last year’s 125cc World Championship, will be riding the Bancaja Aprilia in a two-day test in Spail.
