FUTSAL: The Oxford Lions will be sleeping well tonight after ripping into local National League rivals Team Newbury in a 26-1 victory.
The Lions welcomed Newbury to The Park Sports Centre in Wheatley on Sunday, but as soon as the whistle blew they pounced and scored their first goal after 38 seconds. The Lions continued to attack and established an 11-0 lead at half time.
And they refused to settle for an easy victory, increasing their goal tally to 88 in nine league games. Lucas Totti led the way with 11 goals, while Bruno Gibbin and Paulo Caetano also both found the net four times.
The Lions are now six points clear at the top of the National Futsal League Midlands Group after seven consecutive wins. And the win was achieved without captain Luke Ballinger, who was on international duty with England.
Next up for the Lions is a trip to Brimingham Tigers on February 5.
