Prolific striker Conor McDonagh bagged a hat trick as Oxford City Nomads ran out 5-0 winners against Holyport at Court Place Farm on Saturday.
Kynan Isaac went close for Oxford on two minutes when he whipped a shot past Jamie Jackson's post. Nomads looked the stronger side in the early exchanges and Holyport were having to defend in numbers and mount the odd counter attack.
Jermaine Ferriera had a shot pushed over the bar by Jackson before Nomads took the lead on 20 minutes. McDonagh released Isaac on the left and he rode two challenges before sending in a shot that Jackson could only save with his feet, only for McDonagh to follow up and knock the ball home from the edge of the area.
McDonagh had another effort saved by Jackson before heading the resulting corner against the crossbar. The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Steve Deverell was sent off for a challenge on Albi Skendi the referee took exception too.
Nomads stretched their lead on 39 minutes when McDonagh beat the offside trap and hit a shot across the advancing Jackson and into the corner of the net. Resuming 2-0 up, James Dobson had a well directed free kick saved by the busy Jackson, while at the other City 'keeper Alan Foster was largely untroubled.
On 72 minutes Josias Carbon found McDonagh with a defence-splitting pass and he squared the ball for Ben Moses who beat the 'keeper from close range. And McDonagh grabbed his fifth hat trick of the season with 15 minutes left when substitute Louis Joyce cut the ball back for the striker who drove the ball home via the post to make it 4-0.
The final goal arrived on 83 minutes when Ferreira's curling cross from the right was met by Joyce who gave Jackson no chance from near the penalty spot.
