City still winless after Swimdon draw

Swindon-vs-Oxford-City-5A goal from substitute Dan Holman deep into added time secured a well deserved point for City as they drew 1-1 with local rivals Swindon Supermarine.

With on-loan signing from Wycombe Wanderers, Dan Fitchett, leading the line for City, the visitors had better of the opening encounters at the Webbs Wood Stadium.  Fitchett almost gave City the lead on 18 minutes but his low drive flew across the goalmouth and agonisingly wide of the far upright.

However, City found themselves behind against the run of play after 33 minutes when indecision in the visitors defence allowed debutant Kyle Tooze to steal in and place an exquisite lob over advancing City ‘keeper Richard Knight.

City should have been level two minutes into the second half but Elliot Sandy mistimed his header and the ball bounced off the ground and over the bar from six yards out. Knight came to City's rescue when he made a reflex save to deny Tooze his second goal.

Mark Scott preserved Supermarine’s lead when he turned Mark Janes’ goal bound effort around the post on 70 minutes. With the visiting City supporters getting increasingly frustrated the game took a dramatic turn as the game went into added time.

Firstly Tooze was sent off for his second bookable offence and two minutes later City substitute Dan Holman fired home from 15 yards through a mass of on-rushing Supermarine defenders to secure a point for City, who remain winless seven games into the season.
