Initial Wood Festival line-up announced

Experimental folk group Tunng (pictured), Irish troubadour Fionn Regan and folk veteran Martin Simpson are among the acts in the line-up for this year’s Wood Festival.

The three-day event, at Braziers Park, near Wallingford, from May 21 to 23,lays claim to being Britain’s greenest festival, and is powered by renewable energy only.  Put on by the team behind the larger Truck festival, 800 tickets only have gone on general sale.

Other performers announced included Danny and the Champions of the World, US group Frontier Ruckus, Ora Coogan, Trevor Moss & Hannah Lou and Dusty and the Dreaming Spires.

Organisers claim the event will use solar, wind and energy created by festival-goers to power the event, with an on-site pub selling locally-produced lager, ale and cider.

There will also be workshops covering everything from singing, woodcraft, yoga, knitting, storytelling, and thatching, to making wallets from orange juice cartons, campfire sing-alongs, a kid’s tent and fancy dress parade.

Weekend tickets cost £70 for adults, including camping and all workshops.  Tickets for 13 to 17-year-olds cost £50, while under 12s can enter for free.  Truck tickets go on sale on February 13.
