Upper Heyford chosen as Jubilee Beacon site

A village near Bicester has been selected as one of 2,012 locations across the UK to host a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacon.

The celebration on June 4 next year will mark the Queen's 60th year on the throne.  The beacon will be lit at former RAF base Heyford Park.

Paul Silver, executive director of The Dorchester Group, which owns Heyford Park, said: “The Beacon in Heyford will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this exciting occasion with family, friends and the local community and to share in such a prestigious international event."

Events on the day include a Jubilee market, fireworks, hog roast, and children's activities as well as lighting the beacon.  More details will be released nearer the time.
