Jean Anouilh’s Antigone comes to the Oxford Playhouse

Get artistic at the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock this weekend

Children will have the chance to explore the world of colour at the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock as part of the Oxfordshire Science Festival.

On Saturday, March 13, the museum is running an art workshop for families where children will have the chance to experiment with paint and create their own artwork to take away, inspired by Terry Frost’s colourful ‘Jungle’ painting.

Rise up for Candleford charity bike ride

The Lark Rise bike ride in aid of children’s charity Action Medical Research takes place on Sunday, May 23.

Now in its seventh year, the event had three routes, from a 12.5-mile starter ride to tougher 25 and 40-mile trails through countryside that formed the backdrop to the TV series Lark Rise to Candleford, starting and finishing at Fringford near Bicester.

Benson man takes on 500km charity bike ride

Chris Phillips is hoping pedal power will help him raise £1,300 for a charity that helps the deaf and hard of hearing.

The 21-year-old from Benson has decided to get on his bike and cycle the 500km London to Paris Bike Ride in aid of Deafness Research UK, after suffering from hearing problems as a child.

"I spent a fair bit of my childhood in and out of hospital with a disease called cholesteatoma," said Chris, "and while it has left me partially deaf in my right ear.
