Book lovers descend on Oxford for Literary Festival

Book lovers from across the globe are set to descend on Oxfordshire for the annual Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival.

The prestigious nine-day celebration of all things written runs from Saturday, March 20, to Sunday, March 28, at Christ Church College.

Already renowned as one of the country’s most popular literary festivals, this year’s event is bigger and better than ever, with a host of stars taking part.

Celebration of sport exhibition launched in Henley

The first of 100 exhibitions celebrating Britain’s sporting history in the run up to the 2012 London Olympics has opened in Henley.

Hailed as the largest ever exhibition of British sporting life and heritage by organizers, the collection at the Henley River & Rowing Museum includes the rugby ball drop-kicked by Jonny Wilkinson to win the 2003 World Cup.

X Factor star Rachel Adedeji to judge Oxfordshire talent comp

A new talent contest for Oxfordshire youngsters is coming to the county.

Young people aged five to 18 years old have the chance to audition at Oxford Castle on May 8 and 9, with the best of the bunch getting the chance to perform in a live final at The Theatre, in Headington, on October 2.

Get your walking boots on for Sightsavers at Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace in Woodstock is the setting for a sponsored walk on Sunday, March 28 to raise funds for international development charity Sightsavers.

The scenic walk takes fundraisers through gardens and parkland designed by the legendary landscape architect Capability Brown in the 18th century is an annual event organised by the North Oxford Rotary Club.

New Alice in Wonderland tours launched to celebrate film release

Oxford’s Tourist Information Centre is celebrating the new Alice in Wonderland film with two special tours on Friday, April 2.

The Alice Tour will be run by an Official Blue Badge Guide, and The Alice in Waterland Tour will be conducted by local historian Mark Davies, and focuses on the role of the River Thames in the creation of the Alice book.
