Oxford-based environmental group Earthwatch picked up a prize at the International Green Awards for its work with HSBC.
The non-profit organisation claimed the gold award in the Green Employee Engagement category, ahead of Marks & Spencer's and Deutsche Bank. Over the past five years Earthwatch has worked with more than one third of HSBC's global workforce on climate change projects, a total in excess of 62,000 people.
Of those, 2,233 spent time at one of the group's five regional climate centres, including Oxford, looking at how forests adapt to climate change. James Campbell, head of Earthwatch’s global programme with HSBC, said: “This award is a great tribute to all the team who have been involved with all our work with HSBC. Looking at the competition in this category, Earthwatch is clearly succeeding in delivering effective employee engagement programmes at a significant level in the corporate world.”
