New clothes recyling bins unveiled in Oxford

Twelve new textile and clothing recycling banks have been opened in Oxford.

The banks are in various places across the city, with the money raised going to the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance.  Laura Nicholas, fundraising manager for Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be given permission to place 12 new textile recycling banks across Oxford.

“The funds raised from textile recycling are vital to the charity, to ensure that we can continue to operate our life-saving service, as well as benefiting both the local and international community through a reduction in landfill and the provision of recycled clothing which is used in many third world countries."

The twelve new sites are:

  • Tesco, Union Street
  • Waitrose in Headington
  • Tesco, Ring Road
  • Cardigan Street
  • Ferry Hinksey Road
  • Council depot
  • Friars Wharf
  • Lonsford Close
  • Townsend Square
