Two robbers forced a Summertown bank manager to hand over cash and then locked him in the building before fleeing this morning.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened some time after 7.30am at the Lloyds TSB branch in Banbury Road. Officers said the two men entered the premises and made off with the money in a dark coloured VW Golf.
Another bank employee raised the alarm and contacted police at 9.17am, and when officers attended the scene they found the manager locked in a secure area inside. A police spokesperson said the manager was in shock but unharmed. An investigation has been launched and detectives have been at the scene this afternoon.
